Man United Steps Up With Negotiation To Sign No.9 Bundesliga Center-Forward

Man United have been dealt a huge boost in their pursuit to land Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland after Bayern Munich’s CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has ruled the Bavarians out of the battle to land 2020’s Golden Boy. Erling who was recently crowned as this year’s Golden Boy, joined the Bundesliga giants just shy of 12-months ago.

Man United Updates

Holding the Golden Boy award in his hands as the city of Qatar lit up behind him in his social media post, the Norwegian truly looked like one of football’s most exceptional stars when he was presented with the award that highlights the best player in Europe under the age of 21.

After only featuring in 32 games in all tournaments for the BVB, Norway international has already racked up a hugely impressive 33 goals. Despite only teaming up with his new Bundesliga side in winter, Haaland has been tipped to become one of football’s next big footballers to bag himself a huge transfer.

Red Devils are not alone in their links though. Given how the Norwegian centre-forward has already proven his skill on Europe’s biggest stage and is still at the tender age of just 20, it goes without saying, all of Europe’s biggest teams will be casting an eye.

Bayern Munich CEO Rummenigge opened up on the German club’s stance on Haaland.

“Haaland is fine in Dortmund,” Rummenigge admitted. “And honestly, as long as we have this Robert Lewandowski, we don’t need him. What will happen in the future I cannot predict, also because I will only remain in office until December 2021.”

Haaland have made it clear that he is happy at Dortmund.

“I've been with Borussia Dortmund for a year. I'm fine here and happy,” said Haaland, despite his own agent, Mino Raiola, being present at the awards show in Turin and publicly mulling over a move to Italy in the future. This was the young strikers night and the whole world was watching. Dortmund, it seems, came second to all of that.

Despite Bayern Munich falling out to sign the Golden Boy, Sinclair doesn't feel his old club can challenge for the top-flight trophy again unless Guardiola brings in a long-term successor for Aguero, with Borussia Dortmund's Haaland considered to be the ideal target.

The Blues have the worst attacking record in the top eight at the moment with only 18 goals scored, and Gabriel Jesus has struggled to fill the void up front left by Aguero, who has only been available for three Premier League games so far this term.

“I think Man City and the fans need to get used to seeing Aguero not playing. With that said, is Gabriel Jesus the right man for the job? For me, he’s not scoring enough goals. I like him, I think his work-rate is superb, but he doesn't score enough goals."

“They’ve replaced other players, Torres for Sane is a good like-for-like.

“But when you look at what’s happening with the striker situation, they’ve got two strikers.

“Going off Aguero’s stats and the games he misses, I think you definitely need to buy a new striker."

“For me, I would go all out for Erling Haaland at Dortmund, he’s got everything and would suit the philosophy at Man City. He would do the business.

“If they had Haaland they’d definitely be in this title race.

“I don't think they can compete with the squad they’ve got, with their striking options at the moment.”

United have to act fast if they really want to get their man.
