Reactions And Actions As United Beat Leeds United

Manchester United beat Leeds United 6-2 at Old Trafford. 

No fewer than 43 shots in total were registered by the two sides, who both attacked with intensity from the first whistle.

The Reds were instantly rewarded for that bold approach when Scott McTominay scored not just once, but twice, in the opening few minutes. Further goals from Bruno Fernandes and Victor Lindelof gave OIe Gunnar Solskjaer's men what seemed to be an unassailable advantage, even if Leeds captain Liam Cooper pulled one back for his side with a header to make the half-time score 4-1.

Daniel James marked his first Premier League start since late October with a fine finish, superbly set up McTominay, and Fernandes then completed his double, from the penalty spot, after Anthony Martial was felled inside the area.

Despite staring a heavy defeat in the face, Marcelo Bielsa's aggressive outfit continued to press forward and Stuart Dallas netted the eighth goal of the game with a great shot past David De Gea. 

“The effort they put in today, the boys, all the running they had to do, the closing down, and the moving to get away from our markers, with our fans in the stadium, it would have been even easier for them. We found a way of getting them going, Just imagine if that had 75,000 people here, it would have gone down in history as one of the better Man United performances against Leeds here at home.”

“It was a brilliant start. That was fantastic from the first minute. We had a plan to get after them, go forwards when we had the ball. Two great goals by Scott [McTominay]. The way we approached the game, of course, we've shown them videos and analysed [Leeds] and they were wide-eyed, the boys, when they saw the clips we showed them. The spaces that can appear, or not appear if we don't do the work. They did the work, spot on.”
